Nelson Mandela.

Wow, Dec. 5th, we lost a hero, an icon, a leader, a legend.  Nelson Mandela who had fought so long for the civil right of South Africans, had been battling for a few years with health issues.  On Dec. 5th, he passed away.  Nelson Mandela was a great man who inspired more than his nation but, people all over the nation.  It brings tears to my eyes to hear the news we have lost another legend, despite his age Mandela managed to keep a positive spirit.  It almost seems unreal.  As a college student, I look up to people such as Nelson Mandela because I see their legacy and journey as inspiration to keep going.  Nelson Mandela hard work and determination will never be forgotten. RIP Nelson Mandela

“When people are determined they can overcome anything.” -Nelson Mandela

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

"A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination."

RIP Nelson Mandela.

RIP Pimp C.

While today I celebrate another year of life for one king, I also celebrate the legacy of another.  Dec 4th 2007, we lost Pimp C.  Pimp C means a lot to me for several reasons.  Pimp C is a product of the same community I am from, Port Arthur, TX.  Ironically, he branched out to Houston to begin his career and so am I.  My community isn't exactly the best but, by seeing the legacy he had began lets me know that it is possible to achieve greatness.  The entire UGK movement is so inspirational to me.  I see how Bun B has transformed his rapper aspirations into so many amazing projects. I just still am in amazement of how a group out of my community was able to impact the entire world.  I know from their examples one day, I as well as so many of my peers throughout my community can achieve this. I am so blessed that God gave my city inspiration through this man.

'A LOT OF CLONES BUT THERE'S ONLY ONE SWEET JONES'....PIMP C

His legacy will never be forgotten.  His legacy will continue to inspire me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HOV!

Today, Dec. 4th one of my favorite artists Jay-Z turned 44.  Jay-Z is a true example that anything is possible as long as you stay persistent.  He has achieved so much in his career.  (Side note: I also will be attending his concert on Dec. 19th, WHOOP!!! I am super hype.)  Jay-Z is beginning a new journey in his life, for the next 22 days, he will be living a vegan lifestyle.  He is calling it the 22 day challenge, feel free to read more about it from his blog, here. I don't know if I would ever be able to embark on this journey, lol.  However, it is Hov and he has already achieved so much why not add 22 day vegan onto his resume.

Happy Birthday!

Jay-Z for PREZ! I would vote for him.

This picture is everything to me.  My twin brother and I have been through alot but, despite it all we were still able to graduate.  Through God and having loving parents who bend over backwards for us.  We were able to achieve a stage in life some people do not make it too.  I am proud of myself for staying strong and pushing through.
